Morning and Night Holy Light Ritual

Intention / Purpose
To sanctify the day’s bookends—night and morning—with divine presence. To create a continuous thread of light linking dreams, dawn, and waking life.

Origin / Context
This ritual emerged from Ilnara, Dawn of Dawns. Born of a practice with a Lake Superior stone, to anchor light and holiness at the threshold of sleep and waking.

Items Needed

  • A Lake Superior stone (or another sacred stone)

Steps

🌙 Night — Before Sleep

  1. Hold the stone in your hands.

  2. Take one slow, deep breath.

  3. Say softly:
“I rest in the light. I dream in the holy.”

  4. Place the stone by your pillow or in a safe spot nearby.

🌅 Morning — Upon Waking

  1. Before opening your eyes, place your hand on the stone.

  2. Take one slow, deep breath.

  3. Say softly:
“I wake in the light. I am in the holy.”

  4. Let the feeling of light and holiness settle in before moving.

Closing Words
“And so it is.”

Notes / Variations

  • If traveling, carry the stone so the ritual can accompany you.

  • The stone may be replaced with another sacred object that holds meaning.

We make a place.

We give it our attention.

And we allow the ordinary to become capable of receiving the sacred.
